Content Opt-out

Frerin has war-related PTSD that could be triggering in some cases. This includes graphic descriptions of violence and gore, in dreams or flashbacks, both inflicted on himself and on others. He will also have a tendency to have anxiety and panic attacks that could involve forgetting where he is and attacking people. While I will not publicly go into graphic detail without a content warning, let me know here if that's something you're really not okay with and I'll make sure to keep it out of our threads.

Content Opt-out post link: Here

Age: Frerin is 48, though he appears much younger, as his human equivalent age is closer to late teens.

Gender/Sex: male

Appearance: Frerin is average height for a dwarf, roughly 4'6, with a mess of blondish-brown hair and the intense blue Durin eyes. He's more lithe than his brother, but deceptively strong. He boasts a smattering of light freckles and frankly ridiculous facial hair (for a dwarf) - a silly curved mustache and a thinner beard that doesn't go very far down his chin. He bears the scars of the battle where he was killed, mostly on his chest, though there are scars to indicate that fingers and eyes were removed, though he's thankfully been returned with them intact.

History: Frerin has no canon history, aside from his birth and death dates, so the history I have written is almost entirely player conjecture.

Frerin was the second of Prince Thrain's three children, preceded by Thorin and followed by their sister, Dis. He lived a life of luxury, as Erebor was virtually the wealthiest dwarvish kingdom at the time, and as Thrain already had Thorin to train up to be heir, Frerin was allowed to be more frivolous than his elder brother. Quick to tease and quicker to laugh, he was the merriest of the siblings, and took nothing seriously.

At least, not until the dragon attacked. Thror's illness was now impossible to ignore, and the sheer magnitude of what they had lost weighed even on Frerin. He started to develop a more serious side, though he never lost his laughter. After years of wandering, Thror made for Moria, where the dwarves hoped to reclaim their lost kingdom. Instead, they suffered another crippling defeat at the Battle of Azanulbizar, or Dimril Dale. Although technically the dwarves won the battle and sent the armies of the orcs retreating, the death toll was catastrophic. Frerin, only 48 at the time, was killed in the fighting.

Personality: Frerin will have a PTSD trigger warning. Having been killed in a violent and bloody battle following a dragon attack on his home, he may occasionally have graphic nightmares, panic/anxiety attacks, and be triggered by certain things. In time, this will become less of an issue.

Because of what he's been through, he's certainly quieter than the chatty child he used to be, but that hasn't changed him completely. Frerin is still Frerin, goofy, silly, childish, and absolutely dedicated to his family. He loves spending time with his family, which used to involve wrestling and training with his siblings, though now it'll extend to nephews as well. Like most dwarves, caring for and being with his family is his main priority. He also enjoys spending time outside, whether that's hunting, fishing, or just enjoying the fresh air. Pretty much just think of a younger, blonder, still horrifically naive Kili with PTSD.

Abilities:

Ride a horse/pony
Fight - wields a battle-ax and throwing axes
Resilient to drastic weather changes
Resilient to evil
Stronger than he looks
Climb trees
Make dumb jokes
Flirt

Inventory:

one (1) bloodstained battle-ax
five (5) small throwing axes
one (1) runestone with Frerin's dark name, given to him at his burial

(no subject)

[Frerin has been dead for 142 years when Thorin finally comes to join him. It's strange to think, really, how it's been this long since he came to dwell in the Halls of their Ancestors, crafted by Mahal himself for his children.

Frerin has watched his brother for all this time, pained by the stoic, stone-hearted dwarf Thorin becomes. When the dragon-sickness takes him, Frerin sees it. And when Thorin falls at the Battle of the Five Armies, Frerin weeps bitterly, weeps for his brother and for his sister-sons, for all the ruined innocence, for how close Thorin was to achieving his goal before the sickness took him.

Frerin is one of the last to greet Thorin when he arrives. He needs time to compose himself. Thorin's actions have troubled Frerin greatly and watching the battle reminded him too much of how he too was felled on a battlefield, choking on his own blood, screaming for his mother...

His eyes are red, his face blotchy from crying when he finally comes to say hello to his brother. He's lucky, he supposes, that Thorin will be mostly blind for the next few days. That way he can't see how his little brother has wept for him.

He waits until Thorin asks about him before he finally steps forward.]

Hello, nadad.

OPEN POST

OOC NOTES: Okay so I was going to set up a scene here, but I know I have at least two people who want to tag in and play with Frerin, so I decided to let you guys set up a scene on whatever's going through your head. Feel free to give me a blank tag and I'll set up scene in that case, but talk to me if you want to do that so we can decide on something that we both want to do.

Other than that...um...well yeah just go for it :3
